In the 1960s and 70s, its famous hippie village drew artists, travelers and dreamers from around the world, searching for something simpler: sea, nature, music and a life lived outside convention.
Among those who found their way to Arembepe was Janis Joplin, whose journey through Bahia became part of the mythology of this extraordinary little place.
Arembepe was never created to impress.
